Bluey

I’ve been making a few paintings in the last year or so depicting some of my boys’ most treasured toys. This is the latest one, which I completed this week.

It depicts a six and a bit centimetre Bluey toy, from the Australian animated childrens (and adults really) programme of the same name.

I don’t get a huge amount of time to paint at the moment, and as a result there was a gap of about eight months between working this one up to near completion and finally bringing it on home, during which period I forgot where I was ‘up to’ with it, so just dotted a few i’s and crossed a few t’s as best I could in a couple of brief sessions over the last week or so.

The painting is A4 in size (29.7 x 21 cm), and was made in acrylics on Winsor & Newton canvas-texture paper.

Drawing from the motif
Bluey proved the most perfect of models, remaining perfectly still for as long as required, and making herself available for sittings at very short notice.
