My boys’ principal obsessions this summer holiday have been, in no particular order, Star Wars, Lego, Star Wars Lego and Lego Star Wars. So, with that in mind, in the few hours I had to myself while the boys were at a summer camp today, I thought I’d have a bash at capturing a piece of Star Wars Lego in paint.
The sitter for my toy portrait was an R5 droid measuring no more than 3.5 cm tall. I’ve manually upscaled him in paint; the artwork is approximately A5 in size (21 x almost 15 cm).

The painting was made in acrylics on paper that has a slight canvas texture, which I don’t particularly like, so I’ve no idea why I chose to use that surface. Anyway, it’s done now, and great it isn’t (as Yoda might say) but here it is, telling its’ own story of summer ’25.
