Dedicated Harry Potter fans both, my boys couldn’t wait to get their hands on a couple of Kinder Joys recently, to enjoy the yummy chocolate, and to (probably more importantly) discover the Potter figure secreted inside.

Emerging from their chocolate egg encasement were 3.5 cm figures of Dumbledore himself and Severus Snape. I wanted to make a painting of them both, but short of time and wanting to complete a painting in one session, I copped out and chose to make a painting of the easier one of the two subjects, Snape.

And here he is, painted on A6 (roughly 15 x 10.5 cm) canvas-texture paper in acrylics. For a while my Snape was in danger of looking more like a de-spectacled Edna Mode – the fashion designer from the Incredibles – but it just about looked more like Snape’s Kinder figure by its conclusion I think/hope.
