Stage 2: Green!

Using a fairly wide brush, I scrubbed in a more opaque green background (emerald green with touches of yellow ochre and vermilion with titanium white).

With the same colours, but using a smaller brush, I then added small, directional brushmarks to the head and jacket, following the contours of the face, hair and clothing.

I added further brushmarks to the head and clothing using alternate green mixes (viridian with cadmium red deep, cadmium yellow medium, and titanium white).
