Keep an Eye on the Amaryllis #5

Painting of an amaryllis plantProbably my final go this year at capturing the lifespan of an amaryllis plant, this is the fifth in a series of sketches, made 12 days after the previous attempt (Keep an Eye on the Amaryllis #4), on 28th January this year. By now the poor amaryllis was well past its best – its flowers wilting and generally looking a little sorry for itself. Hopefully, given a fair wind, it’ll come back next year.

This study was made in Winsor & Newton acrylic paints on some cardboard, which made a refreshing change from working on canvas. The sketch took around an hour and a half to complete.
