What finer way to spend a wet Saturday afternoon is there than sketching a lemon juicer in a mug? So I thought before commencing this drawing, which I made in Uni Pin fine line pens and a Pentel calligraphic pen on A5ish paper.

At a bit of a loose end this afternoon – staring at a computer with lots to do but feeling distinctly indecisive – I thought my time might be better spent with a sketchpad and some pens. I challenged myself to do a quick sketch of the first thing that caught my eye (within reason)….

Wirral Festival of Firsts, 14 July 2013

I took part yesterday in the Wirral Festival of Firsts, exhibiting my artwork and chatting to visitors at the Parade school in Hoylake. An enjoyable day in a splendid location. I was able to make a quick pen drawing during a brief lull, sketching the view from the school window.

Trebah, 19 May 2013

This is another drawing from my trip to Cornwall last month. It’s a sketch in pen on paper. Depicted is the coastline of the Helford River, as seen from the beach at Trebah Garden. The view looks down river, towards Mawnan. I’m spending much of this week preparing for the Wirral Open Studio Tour event,…
