Painting of osteospermum ecklonis by Simon Birtall

This is the first sketch I’ve made in a couple of weeks. It was a trial run for a new French-style easel. The painting depicts a pretty little flower with striking yellow petals. I painted it in Winsor and Newton acrylics on Crawford & Black canvas. I tried to keep this as simple as possible to retain its’ freshness. I worked it up a little more than intended but it’s still relatively minimalist in comparison to my usual paintings.
